EHS Sophomore Natalia Gonzalez-Ocampo became the recipient of the highest honor and cash award at The People Next Door student art and creative writing contest for her painting, titled “Fearfully and Wonderfully Made,” held on Holocaust Remembrance Day–April 15–at the Mishawaka Public Library. Natalia was one of four students from EHS to be recognized. The others included EHS Seniors Nora Huckleberry, who earned 3rd place for her poem “Clothes,” Isaac Olivares-Solis, who earned 2nd place, and Autumn Cannon, who earned 1st place for her poem “a body is an object.” The exhibit, which is intended to raise awareness of the Holocaust to each generation, will remain open for public viewing at the downtown Mishawaka library. This event is sponsored annually by the Kurt and Tessye Simon Fund for Holocaust Remembrance.
