In a world where media is constantly being mass produced, finding good content can definitely be a struggle. Unfortunately, the song “Thick Of It” by KSI is not an exception.
The song “Thick Of It” was released two months ago–on Oct. 3–by an online entertainer Olajide Olayinka Williams “JJ” Olatunji, better known as KSI. However, in the past eights weeks, the song has gained no traction by this artist. KSI is primarily known for his content on YouTube and Twitch, as well as for his successful boxing career. These aspects of his life have become the source for many lines in his lyrics, which have been subject to relentless ridicule online–and even in person.
Brandon Sanchez, a sophomore at Elkhart High School, is not impressed with this most-recent release. “I don’t like his new song,” he asserts. “Compared to his previous music, which was more of a hip-hop style, his newest song sounds like a children’s anthem.” Sanchez’s opinions seem to reveal a common theme amongst listeners here. “It’s not good…but not horrible.”
Another sophomore, Braylen Holloway, agrees. “I think KSI’s song isn’t bad, but the lyrics ruin the song.” He elaborated, as well, that the lyrics of the song focus solely on KSI’ success. “It should have more meaning than just being about himself.”
Holloway’s statement seems to almost speak for most listeners. The populace simply does not like KSI’s new boastful and internet-inspired music, believing his overconfidence in his recent artistic works has affected people’s opinions on his music.
People have hundreds of new encounters seemingly daily; however, not all of them are pleasant. This example isn’t an exception, but it certainly is entertaining.
