On November 6, the Lions advanced their season with a 9-0 lead and a sectional championship on their back. This game was huge for Elkhart as a county, the merge of two schools really shined with the great football talent that Elkhart has.

The Lions started in the first quarter with a 7-0 lead by a touchdown run from quarterback, Cameron Wiltfong.

Defensive plays from both teams were shining, especially on Senior Clayton Lundy´s sacks. ¨My mentality going into every game is to execute everything with zero mistakes¨, exclaims Lundy.

Chesterton fights back in a successful second quarter, first with a touchdown pass that gives the Trojans a 7-7 game to fight for.

The Trojans successfully kicked a field goal that put Chesterton up 7-10 by halftime. They went into the second half very confident from being in the lead, giving them a boost to try and win the sectional championship.

During the third quarter, there were relentless defensive plays from both teams that made either team score. The Lions offensive wasn´t clicking as much as they wanted to, Chesterton was just a well defensive team that was good at stopping the ball on plays.

¨The little things really are what matter at the end of the day¨, claims Lundy.

During the fourth quarter was the Lions’ go-time to make an end on the Trojans lead. It started with a huge interception by Senior, Vincent Ambrose. Senior, Niaeem Bean scored an extra point for the Lions, making it a 14-10 lead.

¨We focus each week and just keep competing and playing Elkhart football¨, Ambrose exclaims.

Chesterton had a chance to score to win the game, but the gritty Lions had a huge quarterback sack on the 4th down with 2 minutes left by Senior, Tyon Winters.

Elkhart then finished the game by running the clock out leading the Trojans 14-10 securing the sectional title and advancing to regionals next Friday.

The Lions walked off the field with the first ever sectional championship for the Lions, creating a legacy for a lifetime.

¨I´m extremely proud to be a part of this senior class and wouldn’t change a thing about it!¨ Ambrose concluded.
