You probably know of it, but have you ever watched it?

The other night as I lazily turned on Netflix, I noticed I was about to finish the series “Friends” for maybe the sixth time. Then I realized that there is a good majority of people out there that have never seen this show. So, here I am to tell you why you should.

“Friends” is an American sitcom that ran from 1994-2004, lasting ten seasons. It covers the everyday experiences a group of best friends-three women and three men, all navigating their way through their twenties in New York City.

As a kid, I would hear my parents talk about this show and how they watched the newest episode every week. Bored and mindlessly scrolling through endless shows, I decided to give it a try. Very quickly I was drawn in, connected to the characters and thoroughly enjoying the humor. The comedic aspect really was what caught my attention, but as I continued to watch the show, it became more and more easy to relate to the characters which was an interesting concept.

Ten seasons makes for quite a long show, but personally, I never felt that it was being dragged on or that they were running out of ideas. And with it being a thirty minute sitcom instead of and hour per episode drama, it is easier to finish so really, it will not take you that long. It is also easier to just watch an episode here or there.

The only negative thing I would say about this show is that some of the humor is very time-relative. Since the show aired throughout the nineties, some of the jokes are based upon events that took place in that time period. But there are few of these and for the most part, the humor is universal.

If you are looking for a new comedy, a show to make you feel better about being completely lost in your life, or just a new show in general, throw on a couple episodes of “Friends.” Especially when it hasn’t been your day, your week, your month, or even your year.
