An annual tradition at Elkhart Memorial, the African-American History and Current Issues Oratory Contest kicked off in the Little Theatre on Thursday, Feb. 28. A competition where students at EMHS get the opportunity to speak their mind about African-American history and current societal issues, the oratory contest is one that a number of student groups are involved with.

The event was sponsored by Sigma Beta Upsilon group (SBU), the Elkhart Memorial Speech Team, and the Elkhart Chapter of the Indiana Black Expo.
