10 Things I Hate About You
February 27, 2020
Constant snifflers! Pencil tappers! People who eat all of the marshmallows out of the Lucky Charms!
Yes. Pet peeves: Those annoyances that get under the skin that just can’t be ignored. Although many have their own strange or unique quirks, all have pet peeves that they find extremely irritating. It’s just a part of being on this planet with human beings. However, a university in Boone, N.C., believes their survey identifies the Top Ten Pet Peeves to Americans:
- Chewing with one’s mouth open
- Slow walkers
- Leaving the toilet seat up
- Know-it-alls
- Having to repeat oneself over and over again
- The sound of Styrofoam rubbing together
- Excessive PDAs
- Being told what to do
- Improper grammar
- Screaming children
Yet, here at Central, students could add to that list. “Some of my pet peeves are people who are loud in the morning…and also people who make TikToks and get me in the background!” admits Paolina Gomez, 10. Yet, Edgar Gomez, 10, takes it in another direction. “My biggest pet peeve is when someone acts like I don’t know what I’m talking about and they clearly do!”
So, whether it’s someone snoring, littering, talking on his phone in a movie theater, or even picking his nose in public, everything a person does is bound to make somebody else’s Top Ten list.
