While so many EHS students will be going on break Thursday, the boys basketball team will remain in high gear and ready to take on three opponents in the next two weeks.

Currently, the team is 1-6 overall and 1-2 record in conference. Beating South Bend Adams 52-50 may have been their only win, but the game itself proved what the team is capable of. Sophomore Mariyon Dye scored a layup in the final seconds of the game, giving the team the final 2 points to give them the win. That wasn’t all he did, either. Dye scored a total of 18 points, 2 assists, and 19 rebounds. Senior Jacob Windy accrued 11 points, while junior Tumarye Morris had 15 points.

Despite this being a rebuilding year for EHS, the team is far from giving up hope. In fact, the goal is to win all three games scheduled over break. The first is a 6:30 p.m. game this Friday at La Porte. After the new year, the team will play two more games before returning to school. One will be on Jan. 3, which is a 7:30 p.m. away game against Mishawaka. The other is a 7 p.m. game on Jan. 5 against South Bend Riley.

Anthony Williams, senior basketball player No. 5, remains optimistic.“A change is coming soon–just stay with us and keep supporting us!”

Fan support may just be the winning ticket.
