The wait is almost over! This year’s Elkhart High School production of Matilda the Musical will premiere next weekend.

The musical will take place on March 11 and 12 at 7 p.m., as well as on March 13 at 2 pm. It will be performed at the Main Campus (10-12), and tickets will be sold at the door. Students and senior citizens are required to pay $10, while adults need to pay $12 for admissions.

Cymantha Jones, a sophomore and the main lead in the musical, encourages everyone to come to the show. “The musical would be a great escape from your daily routine and would be an overall good time,” she expresses. With such a wondrous storyline, there’s no doubt that the audience will be in awe throughout the show. Matilda the Musical is based on the book of the same name by Roald Dahl. It’s about a young girl named Matilda who has an intelligent mind, an extremely active imagination, and the amazing gift of telekinesis. As she navigates through numerous familial and school obstacles, Matilda meets many audacious characters and eventually discovers herself in the process. So, it will definitely prove to be an exciting watch for everyone that comes to see it.

With so many twists and turns, it’s not very hard to see how lively and entertaining this musical is going to be. In addition, Matilda the Musical is jam-packed with witty songs and dance numbers that will be sure to keep the audience engaged. Jones goes on to say, “The best part about playing the role of Matilda is all of the music. My favorite song in the musical is called Naughty, because it’s a really fun, upbeat song.”

Various students have been preparing for this musical for months now.  “Rehearsals are hard,” Jones explains, “but it’s all working towards a great show. So many people have put their blood, sweat, and tears into this musical–and I can’t wait for everyone to come and see it!”  Now that the set design is finished, the costumes have been stitched, and everyone has finished memorizing their lines, all of the components of Matilda the Musical have finally come together. Audiences will want to mark their calendars now in order to catch the show next weekend!
