Coachella Is Back On Track

Coachella is crowded with artists, DJs, celebrities, influencers, and others who love to have a good time.

After two years of canceling one of the biggest music festivals in the United States. Coachella is back for 2022! The official date and artists who are performing have been posted since Jan. 12, 2022. Dates are Apr. 15-17 and Apr. 22-24.

Coachella is usually an annual music event. Located in  Indio, California, where a bunch of artists go and perform. The media feed usually blows up with artists and influencers who attend the festival. Fans are excited to see celebrities and influencers altogether. The outfits that most of those who go on are striking and creative. Chloe Dodd, a junior, excitedly says, “My favorite thing about Coachella is getting to see all my favorite artists perform!”

The festival may be back this year, but there are new guidelines. Based on COVID, those who are attending must show a negative COVID test within 72 hours or full proof of full vaccination. Dodd agrees with this policy: “I think it should be necessary for the person to have a negative test or to be vaccinated in order to get in.” She goes on to say, “It is a safety precaution to make it less likely to spread the virus.”

Coachella is known for having this huge and crazy musical festival. Which one has fans biggest lookout? Dodd responds. “Probably either the first night or the last night, because those are just in general more hyped up.” Starting off with the first nights Apr. 15 and 22, some that will be performing are Harry Styles, Lil Baby, Daniel Caesar, Phoebe Bridgers, City Girls, NIKI, Role Model, and DJ Lord. Apr. 16 and 23 will feature Billie Eilish, Megan Thee Stallion, 21 Savage, Wallows, Conan Gray, Steve Lacy, Current Joys, and DJ Holographic. The final night, Apr. 17 and 24, will include Kanye West, Doja Cat, Karol G, Banda MS, Måneskin, and Surf Curse. 

What artist are fans looking forward to?  “I’m really excited to see Harry Styles perform!” Dodd exclaims. She goes on explaining, “His shows are always entertaining and spectacular. Hopefully, we will get to hear one of his new songs from his new album.”  Artists are not the only thing Dodd is excited to see. She says,”I’m really hoping to see some of my favorite Drag Queens to be there.” Continuing, Dodd adds, “Like the new, younger ones–for example, Gotmik or my favorite Gigi Goode!”

With Coachella back in action this year, does that mean other events will slowly make there way back? One can only hope.
