With a degree emphasizing both English Literature and Journalism, Mrs. Leslie Smith has been the adviser for The PENNANT Online Newsmagazine (in its many various forms) since 1993. Prior to her taking on this role, she was an editor at The Goshen News. Deciding to turn her attention toward teaching, her first 29 years were spent at Elkhart Central High School--or, more recently, Elkhart High School-East--where she not only advised the student publication but also taught Senior AP Literature and Junior Dual Credit English. Since then, however, she has returned "home," so to speak, as she moved across town to join the Arts & Communications team at Elkhart High School with the same duties as before. As a part of the sixth class to graduate from Elkhart Memorial High School, Smith is proud to give back to the same corporation that instructed her so well.
